How Safe Are Community Hot Tubs, And Steam Rooms? Is There A Chance Of Picking Up Disease?

I am not super partial to hot tubs – they are usually too hot or not hot enough. If they smell of chlorine, and the water is clean and does not have a foamy scum, they are safe. The chlirine kills anything that can harm you.
I have used plenty of steam rooms. I ALWAYS sit or lie on a clean towel and toss it when I come out (at health club or spa – it’s their towel), and I wear shower thongs. As long as you keep yourself off the wet surfaces you will be fine. If you see ppl not showering before going in, say something. They are supposed to. And of course shower after.
