Studying For Finals Anyone Help? Domain And Range?

Heres the problem:
Use the table below. It lists measurements of the concentration of a particular chemical in a public pool which is serviced every 2 weeks.
Days after regular maintenance
2
8
12
Concentration in parts per million (ppm)
7.5
6
5
Then there is a graph (11. Assuming that the complete function includes all other data values that make sense, draw the graph of the function)
12) What are the domain and range of this function?

  1. DDs wife says:

    The domain is the first set and the range is the second set.
    This should be your diagram
    2———5
    8———6
    12——–7.5
    Now graphic the pairs of data.

  2. Bruce says:

    The domain is the set of all possible ‘x’ values for the function that produce an answer ‘y’. So, the domain is what numbers you can put into the function.
    The range is the set of all possible ‘y’ values of any ‘x’. So, the range is what numbers you can possibly get out of the function.
    So, looking at your graph, if the curve of the function does not go into the negative (-) y quadrants, then the range does not include negative numbers, see? And if the curve has a horizontal asymptote at a particular ‘x’, then that value is not included in the domain.

  3. raj says:

    domain is the values taken by the variable
    range is the correspondingvalues of the function
    domain is {2,8,12}
    range={7.5,6,5}

  4. vadimsov says:

    domain is where the function is defined. You can carry out measurements at any point of { 0 to +infinity } days, which is the domain.
    The range is what values can funciton take. Concentration cannot be below 0 and above a million per million, right? Therefore, the range is 0 to 1,000,000.
